Circa 1900, 18k, France. This eighteen-karat gold filigree necklace is a beautiful example of nineteenth-century French jewelry. Handmade round and pear-shaped motifs are interspersed with a delightful variety of links and pearls, allowing each component its own visual space. It can be worn long, wrapped once or twice, or layered with strands of pearls and/or other chains. The look is Gallic town and country at its antique chic best. Made to the highest French standard, it is in excellent condition.
