Receipts are contracts: Make sure every detail regarding your piece is included in your receipt clearly and completely. This is the legal statement of what you are buying. If it turns out to be inaccurate or incorrect, the item can be returned for a full refund as the contract was not fulfilled. There is no time limit on this contract, it remains in force indefinitely.

Your contract-receipt is your guarantee: Make sure every detail regarding your piece is included in your receipt clearly and completely. This is the legal statement of what you are buying. This legally guarantees your purchase. Appraisals, sell sheets, company guarantees, handshakes, promises etc. are great, as long as it’s all on the official receipt. Insist on this.

Gemstones are heavily regulated: Natural means without any enhancement, treatment, or alteration. If a gemstone is enhanced, treated or altered in any way it must be disclosed. This is Federal regulatory law. These regulations cover all sales of gemstones, including retail, wholesale, online, and auctions.
