Carved Turquoise Crab Brooch

Circa 1930s, 18k, Swiss.  The turquoise carving in this wonderfully cosmopolitan brooch is Japanese from the late Meiji or Taisho periods, (so circa 1880s to 1900). Mounting antique fragments, especially Japanese or Chinese stone carvings in jewelry, was very popular in the Deco period. The silhouette motif of the 18k gold frame is meticulously hand fabricated.
Condition: Excellent condition.
Weight: 17.2 gr
Hallmarks: 750 for 18k, maker's mark.
