Inv. #24734
Monumental Vase by Louis Lourioux
SOLD
Circa 1920s, Pottery, by Louis Lourioux, (1874-1930), France. Famed flamboyant potter Louis Lourioux was known for edgy Art Deco designs, though generally in under 6-inch sizes. This huge example is 15 and a ½ inches tall. The green glaze is fabulous and the concentric circles motif is understated, yet groundbreaking. Very Good Condition. Noted: in the pictures what looks like a hairline on the vase bottom does not go through to the inside, so is probably from the original firing.
Remarks from Lawrence Jeffrey:
“Green is to Art Deco what Red is to Ferrari!"
