Inv. #16806
Pair of Monumental Cut Crystal Vases by Libbey
SOLD

Circa 1900, by Libbey, American. These rare Libbey vases are strikingly decorated with heron and floral sprays amongst rushes and rippling water. Made for exhibition, each is perfectly proportioned and detailed, displaying a flutter rim, flared foot, and superb cut-work. At eighteen inches tall, they effortlessly become the focal point of any room. Extremely uncommon, especially in pristine condition, it is rarer, still, to have a matching pair. Most likely there were only five or six made. These may possibly be the only surviving examples.

Note: These vases are mentioned and pictured in the following books: “Libbey Glass Pictorial History & Collector’s Guide” by Carl U. Fauster and “Rarities in American Cut Glass” by Herbert Wiener and Freda Lipkowitz.

Remarks from Lawrence Jeffrey: “To own a unique object is true luxury.”
Condition: Excellent condition.
Measurements: 18 inches tall
