Circa 1780-90, 18k - 21k, Provence, France. This spectacular high-karat gold remnant of French royalty is technically an etui. Specifically designed to hold a stick of sealing wax, it was fashioned with a seal on the end. It is decorated with a hand-engraved and raised floral pattern superimposed on rays of the sun. The perfect curious objet for a hall table or coffee table. Excellent condition.
