#22274 - Pair Of Post Modern Silverplate Water Pitchers By Richard Meier For Swid Powell
SOLD

Circa 1980s, Silverplate, by Richard Meier for Swid Powell of New York City. In the 1980s, the American homewares company, Swid Powell, commissioned architect Richard Meier to design a line of contemporary silver-plated hollowware. Strongly influenced by  Wiener Werkestadt and Dr. Dresser, these pieces are a high point of American 20th-century design. This pair of pitchers combine some of the best elements central to this effort. They are brilliantly chic, perfect for serving or decorating any interior. Finely made in Millan, Italy, they are in very good condition.

Remarks from Lawrence Jeffrey: “The eighties …when modern came home to find America ready and waiting, we went to see Metropolis and never looked back …flying cars, robot girlfriends, and Frank Lloyd Wright houses…”
Condition: Very good condition.
