Extraordinary Gold Necklace by Wilm, Germany
SOLD
Circa 1970s, 18k, by Wilm, Hamburg, Germany.  Weaving together hand-textured and polished elements, this striking 18k yellow gold necklace has a sophisticated visual narrative. Since the 1700s, Wilm has created impeccably styled jewelry. This spectacular 35 1/2 inch necklace, with its brilliant textile motif, easily goes from the sidewalk to the catwalk. Constructed of meticulously hand-fabricated and engraved pieces to form a gold mesh, it can be worn around the neck doubled or long, and additionally slung on the hips as a decorative belt. The flexible nature of the components makes it very comfortable on and easy to wear. Excellent condition.
Remarks from Lawrence Jeffrey: "For five thousand years, gold jewelry has been the 'go to' accessory. There is no fashion statement more enduring."
